For fans of unusual simulation type games, that one is certainly worth a look as well. The company’s unusual and quirky title Not For Broadcast has recently hit early access.

Hellpoint‘s publisher tinyBuild has delivered other recent news for us. Cradle Games calls this the “Quantic System.” And the players’ death may trigger different events in the world each time you respawn. This dynamic world is meant to change the flow of gameplay from differing parts of the story. The studio claims that the game will act as a sort of “dungeon master.” That is, whenever you die, you’ll respawn with the world slightly altered. The game will feature some sort of player-vs-player mode, although no strict details are available yet. Also, Hellpoint‘s co-op campaign will involve shared loot between players. Players can call for assistance from anonymous players. The studio promises that the game will feature both couch co-op and online support. What we can expect is a full co-op campaign. If Hellpoint is to deliver on the souls-like combat, let’s hope it will offer just that. It was our first time doing a stream lesson learned We loved the experience and will definitely do. We moved to Twitch because Kickstarter Live is a fairly new service that didn't allowed us to stream the game. However, we discovered after the stream ended that Twitch did not recorded it. Size, scope, and threat are everything when it comes to feeling utterly obliterated by the enemy. We had a great time with everybody while we talked about where Hellpoint came from and where it's going. The trailer also teases some solid-looking boss battles. Overall, the trailer is grim and unsettling. We have a slew of dark-fantasy characters mixed into a world with some strange alien species. While it’s hard to decipher if Hellpoint will deliver a true souls-like challenge, the trailer definitely delivers on style. A demand that could prove problematic under its current solution.Hellpoint’s release trailer delivers on style While I’d gladly endorse Hellpoint as a single player experience it boasts a difficulty that almost demands co-op play. It’s entirely possible that this is just my personal bias. Certainly nothing so heavily story-based and choice-driven as Hellpoint appears. Even so, with the exception of party games I don’t think the current market supports couch multiplayers anymore. I appreciate that this is how most of us experienced multiplayer when we were growing-up. Dividing the screen rather than enabling multiplayer online, seems like a call-back to a bygone era. It's good to be back home This is convention season so we've been on the road for a while to promote Hellpoint and needless to say that the game does turn a lot of. The gameworld in Hellpoint looks impressive, if a bit dark in spots. When was the last time you could devote an entire weekend to playing through a game at a friend’s house? Multiplayer games migrated online for a reason. They hope the campaign will help determine if sci fi RPGs have avoided split-screen in the past simply because nobody had thought of it, or if there isn’t a market for the feature. Under their “risks and challenges” for the project, the developers acknowledge that they have found some partners who are watching closely to see how the campaign preforms to judge market viability. While this could be a boon for couch co-op, the lack of online single screen experiences may prove to be a deal breaker. Cradle Games has made the interesting design choice to include split-screen co-op across all platforms. Not gonna lie, everything about the campaign pitch sounds great, with one notable exception.

However, every choice and action can have a tremendous impact on the future or demise of not only the station, but also the universe beyond. What this means and how it should be accomplished is left entirely up to the player’s discretion. Their only directive is to “finish what was undone” however they deem necessary. Players take on the role of a 3D-printed protagonist. The developers are asking for $37,257 to bring the strange Irid Novo space station to life.

The Kickstarter campaign for Hellpoint looks solid, but its multiplayer implementation may turn potential backers off.Ĭreated by Cradle Games, Hellpoint is dark, sci fi action RPG taking place in orbit around a mysterious black hole. Investigating a derelict space station alone may be dangerous, but bringing a friend along might be more trouble than it’s worth.
